Maximising ROI: Content you should use on social media?

If you want to maximise your social media engagement you need to think about how much you posts and, more importantly, what you are posting. This post reveals the foundational formula that will stand the test of time and is applicable to nearly every single social media platform (despite the fact they are all continually changing their algorithms!!).

Look, we know that you don’t want to spend your whole life glued to your computer and think it is pointless to waste hundreds, if not thousands, of pounds on a social media marketing manager in an attempt to get it right. We wrote this article so you don’t have to.

CATEGORIES OF CONTENT

The major consideration revolves around content. In simple terms, if you are posting high-quality content then you don’t need to post so often to get the engagement you desire. As a result, you will significantly reduce your screen time, and boost ROI. There are four categories of content that you should be posting:

#1 Educational Posts

You need to educate your audience on things, so they see you as a valuable and resourceful person or business that they can trust. Think about the types of things you can educate your audience with that will serve the need and congruently lead into a great recommendation or suggestion into your product, service, or business. For example, if you are in weight loss, your perfect audience are for people who are trying to shed some pounds and lean up. This audience can be educated by providing time-saving and money-saving tips when it comes to losing weight and directing them to a host of helpful weight-loss resources across the internet.

#2 Lifestyle or Entertainment

People mostly come on social media to be entertained. For example, how can you entertain or show lifestyle to someone interested in weight loss? Showing before/after pictures and testimonials are perfect for those interested in this area; it shows other people’s way of living and how they have made progress. Sharing stories about other people’s weight loss goals can be particularly interesting for those looking for inspiration on how to get rid of excess fat.

#3 Funny stories

Think about the sort of content that goes viral. It is typically stuff that makes us laugh, and we want our friends to see it too and join in with the humour. To continue the example of weight loss, how can you incorporate humour into your social media content? You can show people the funny mistakes people have made when trying to follow their weight loss journey or use memes that express the common thoughts/feelings of those people.

#4 Promotion

Use the 80:20 rule here. That is, 80 percent of your content should fall under the other three categories and the final 20% of content should fall under this category. Such direct promotion would involve doing a Facebook live (which is particularly important if you want to generate leads) or have a sale going on, but you want to do it in a way where you are sharing benefitsof what your product or service can do for people. Don’t talk about what your product is, but what value it brings to people. Finally, leave a call to action at the end of the post that encourages potential customers to reach out to you.
